Night in Corozal, Belize. I am working at my computer when the earthquake strikes. This is not a mild tremor like the one in Quito (blog post 04/18/2017) but a catastrophic event causing severe damage and casualties in Mexico.

Though the epicenter is off in the Pacific Ocean, I can feel the shock waves running through the house, shaking the floor, making me giddy. The house is a very robust structure of solid concrete and handles the onslaught well. God help those closer in to the disaster.
